Andrew Jamieson's journey began from very humble beginnings in Bermondsey, South London, later moving to Dorset in England's West Country and then Memphis Tennessee, where he spent some time at High School. Returning to England he attended Salisbury College of Art in Wiltshire and later Reigate School of Art in Surrey where he studied the specialised skills of calligraphy, heraldic painting and traditional manuscript illumination on the only course of its kind in the world and which closed in 1987. He has spent a short time in Virginia and has lived in Scotland. Today Andrew works from his studio in the magical landscape of North Cornwall, the mythical lands of the legendary King Arthur. A place which is a source of deep inspiration to him.
Andrew's professional career began in 1983 when he graduated with an Honours Diploma in calligraphy, heraldry and illumination. Initially working as a freelance artist for the College of Arms in London until 1995. In 1996 he was recognised by the Canadian Heraldic Authority as a Master Heraldic Artist. In 1997 he wrote and illustrated the Pitkin Guide, Coats of Arms. He was elected a Brother of the Artworkers Guild in 2002, appointed a Colonel of the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 2020 and in 2025 was admitted to the Freedom of the Worshipful Company of Painter - Stainers of the City of London. He is a Founder and Artist Companion of the Confraternity of Our Lady, Saint Luke and the White Shield. He is primarily known as the artist that His Majesty King Charles III personally commissioned to design and paint the invitation for Their Majesties Coronation at Westminster Abbey in 2023. Andrew feels incredibly privileged and humble to have been able to play a small role in such an important occasion in the glorious history of the land he calls home.
When not writing, painting and illuminating, Andrew likes to walk in the magical landscapes near his home, cook and listen to his eclectic collection of music. He has had a lifelong interest in knights and chivalry and immerses himself in the legends of King Arthur, the Knights of the Round table, the stories of quests associated with the Holy Grail and he has a deep fascination for the mythology of Britain.
